I love to read and write. My career as an English language arts teacher nurtures my love of both. I've been in the classroom for 25+ years, and I've never been happier in my career than I am now. That said, I find writing to be deeply gratifying. It is a true expression of my creativity, my emotions and my heart. Whether I'm writing young adult fiction or a special non-fiction piece, I try to express an emotionally driven story.
When I'm not reading or writing, I love to be with my family. I am a mother of two amazing boys and a wife to a fantastic creative husband. Over 20 years ago he took me on our honeymoon to Scotland, and a part of my heart has clung to the Highlands ever since. I love all things Scottish (except haggis)and have now visited twice. The first stories I wrote were influenced by my own Scottish heritage (Clan MacLaren & Clan Gordon) and the mystical legends and lore of the land. I have an appreciation for memoirs, and my most recent interest has been focused on YA realistic/contemporary fiction that focuses on body positivity. |
